The global opportunities in gaming are endless as we move into 2023. Gone are the worries of how to survive when huge crowds present obstacles for everyone to be safe. What the pandemic did globally was teach us how to work smarter, faster, better and cooperate from our desktops and even our mobile phones especially in the planning stages. This year we endeavor to produce large scale global events where every game matters and make it more exciting to watch. Most recently, we witnessed a new robot named Sophia who is the latest member of the Esports team XSET. Only the beginning.
The next year of opportunities will surround bringing even more people into the game. Its not necessarily done with esports competitions but rather with celebrity, influencers, streamers who can create community around the game. This will prove even more valuable as we have the ability to watch large scale exciting events in person, online and virtually.
Whether you’re looking for opportunities with publishers, teams, designers, developers, marketing, advertising, tech, social media, production, news, graphics, content creators, sales, agencies, promotion or even sports training, the key is to make sure to attend tournaments and events and understand the community wherever you might live. Identify your strengths in the vertical in which you most relate and have a basic understanding of influencer marketing and social media as those skills make you valuable no matter what area you pursue.
As for the opportunities in the professional side of esports, Its hard to turn a profit for these esports teams. No one likes to talk about it because its getting to a point where there is a minimal amount of teams that can survive, And the ecosystem needs to change and be more responsible. The publishers are in some way the only ones who can develop, grow and contribute to the success of esports and yet their much needed developers clearly don’t want anyone to have power over them when it comes down to improving the top games. Bring us great games and we all succeed. Work together, build a team.
Game development is one significant area where the opportunities are in the years ahead. Look for more mergers and acquisitions and lots of money coming into gaming, but smart money this time as we understand so much more in the last 10 years.
